Assessing significance, a program of study
Imagine you have just been welcomed as a volunteer to The Man From Snowy River Museum in North Eastern Victoria. Congratulations!
‘Banjo’ Paterson was visiting Tom Groggin station, deep in the Australian Alps when he met Jack Riley, an old bushman and brumby runner. He heard the tale of his riding exploits and used it as the basis of the ballad, The Man from Snowy River.
Nestled in the foothills of the Snowy Mountains, this museum sits in a town of about 1000 people.
In the museum you will see your new collection. Look for the pram on skis, the typewriter used to write The Silver Brumby, Jack Riley’s saddlebags, the birthing chair and ‘Iris’ the first motorized vehicle over the Snowy Mountains. And so much more.
